We have recently been appointed to be part of a major government £3m funded research and development programme being led by Salford University’s Virtual Research and Enterprise Group to develop sustainability and affordability into urban development. The research programme links with the international Bequest Project (Building environmental quality through time) with input primarily from European parties, but also involves research and modelling on the worlds 10 ‘Mega-Cities’. The research programme will last 3 years culminating in a ‘growth, development and prediction’ computer model that Silcock Leedham LLP will have significant technical input.
This research appointment will also link with the global ‘Intel-Cities – road map project’ which seeks to establish a knowledge society up to 2020 based on building and development related IT systems and intelligent buildings. This is an exiting role for Silcock Leedham and reinforces our long held belief that academia and industry must be closely linked. |
