CIC Creative Industries Centre

The project which is being funded principally by Scarborough Borough Council, Yorkshire Forward and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) at a cost of £4.8 million has transformed the building and creates some of the best office and workshop accommodation available to the creative industries sector in the North of England.

The centre includes 35 hi-tech business units to include artists studios, gallery space and a new ‘state of the art’ storage facility for the Council’s museum and gallery service.  The units have been designed with ‘start-up’ businesses in mind and the project includes the provision of business support services in order to assist and provide the best possible start for creative people taking their first steps in the commercial world.

The Building is the former home of the renowned Sitwell family and the ‘Sitwell Rooms’ have been preserved as part of the new development.

Work was carried out in two phases, allowing the Wood End museum to remain open during the development period.
