The Knowledge Transfer Centre is a further resource that has been developed as part of the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre initiative in Sheffield. The aim of the centre is to provide businesses with training in new manufacturing technologies. The new build consists of a workshop and flexible work room / classroom space to facilitate manufacturing apprenticeship schemes and University of Sheffield research programmes.
Silcock Leedham was appointed to develop the detailed design from stage D concept through to Stage F construction drawings. In addition we also carried out detailed thermal and day light modelling to identify the most efficient arrangement and configuration of natural ventilation openings for the building.
An integral aspect of this process involved connecting the Knowledge Transfer Centre onto the site-wide High Voltage network and site wide district heating / cooling energy network developed during our involvement in the NAMRC building.
