Client’s Requirements

This commission consisted of the ‘brick by brick’ rebuild of the derelict grade 2* listed mansion house in Staley bridge into residential apartments plus the conversion of adjacent farm buildings to become mews type homes, all developed within the curtlidge of the listed building to meet the conservation officers recommendations and approvals.

The refurbishment of the hall and its outbuildings was to create a unique new development of just 28 properties, recreating the grandeur and charm of days gone by, whilst retaining as many of the original features as possible.

Silcock Leedham’s Contribution

Silcock Leedham was appointed to carry out full, detailed Mechanical and Electrical Design including heating, ventilation, power, internal and external lighting and infrastructure. We worked with conservation architects to provide installations that were sympathetic to the original features of the building and were within the constraints of strict planning conditions. We also carried out part L compliance and SAP calculations to determine the energy rating of each dwelling.

Added Value / Unique Selling Points

We were able to use our extensive experience working within the constraints of grade I and grade II listed buildings and apply this experience to this residential development.
