This project consisted of the internal expansion and partial refurbishment of the main terminal building at Leeds Bradford Airport.
This included the installation of a mezzanine floor within the main check in hall and the internal reorganisation and refurbishment of the screening area and the first floor, including provision of new lifts, escalators, circulation areas and a number of retail concessions including WH Smith, Superdrug and World Duty Free.
Silcock Leedham was appointed to work alongside the project team and provides post contract design monitoring duties against the contract employer’s requirements, including a full detailed review and comments on the contractors design proposals, and periodic site inspection duties.
We undertook a full review of the contractor’s proposals (design drawings and equipment schedules) and provided design support where required in relation to the contractor achieving the employer’s requirements. This included providing a schedule of comments and observations for review and action by the contractor.
We also oversaw the service installation for the retail concessions, ensuring the contractors design was ‘fit for purpose.’
We undertook weekly site visits and inspections to review installation workmanship and quality and provided a site visit report highlighting corrective actions and headline issues following each site visit.
We undertook a full defects inspection prior to practical completion and issued a comprehensive schedule of defects and incomplete works to the contractor for action.
