Don Valley School

Client’s Requirements

The £17m ‘Super School’ and Community Hub will be built on the site of the former Don Valley Stadium. The school will offer places to children aged of 2 to 16. Facilities include two sports halls and a multi-use external gaming area.

Silcock Leedham’s Contribution

Silcock Leedham was appointed to take the end user’s original outline design concept and deliver fully coordinated construction layouts with associated technical information for mechanical & electrical installation by the services contractor.

We worked closely with the main contract team to assess the concept design for ‘buildability’ and cost and produce thermal analysis and natural ventilation studies to confirm the concept was achievable. We then assisted with the selection of the services contractor and finally were novated to the services contractor’s team to deliver the build.

We assisted the client with the concept design decisions and commercial engineering exercises to ensure the delivery of the project within cost constraints and with the preferred services contractor.

We were able to utilise our broad range of specialist skills to provide technical support including building thermal & carbon modelling.
