Client’s Requirements

The Boulevard Academy, previously known as Hull Free School, operates as a secondary school catering for 600 pupils aged between 11 - 16 (years 7 – 11). The new build Academy is located in west Hull and has a city wide, non-selective admissions policy. The school and its’ facilities are also available to the local community and act as an educational beacon providing alternative choice for the parents and pupils of Hull.

The school consists of a two-storey entrance building containing sports facilities, a dining room, a learning resource centre and administrative functions. This leads to a three-storey teaching block with modern classrooms and IT suites.

Silcock Leedham’s Contribution

Silcock Leedham was appointed by the Framework Delivery Partner (BAM Construction) to provide full design services, including an educational assessment of needs and internal environment and fully coordinated BIM to Level 2.  In addition, we were appointed for the BREEAM AP and specialist IT / DATA / ICT services design and implementation.

Added Value / Unique Selling Points

The Boulevard Project was carried out in accordance with BS ISO 29481-1:2010 Level II BIM standards which we are completely familiar with and have invested heavily in software and training for.  We created our working model in Autodesk ReVit and integrated the model into Navisworks along with the Architect and Structural Engineer, to evaluate clashes and building coordination. We then populated our BIM with component specific information to form simplified COBIE schedules.  The main benefit is the early visualisation and detailing that informs later design decisions.  We are at the forefront of developing Revit MEP content for manufacturers.
